The new Spider-Man is from the out of continuity Ultimates line of alternate reality comics. they been doing junk like this for years with varying degrees of success and failure. I have not paid them much attention. DC Comics has done a much better job with its similar Elseworlds line. of course, DC cares more about stories and art than shock value--at least in comparison to Marvel in recent years.
