Doubtful Sarah Palin Will Run in 2012

While we are on the subject of making 2012 predictions that may come back to bite me on the rear end, I do not believe Sarah Palin is going to run for president. I have to temper that statement by saying I do not think palin has figured out she is not going to run for president yet, but I suspect she will.

I am not entirely certain I buy into the theory she expects the grassroots to call upon her like Joan of Arc to come save the country, but her arrival in Iowa lends strength to the argument. I have kicked around the idea she was expecting to make a big showing as a write in during the straw poll just by her presence prompting support. It did not happen for her. That such did happen for rick Perry, who not only was not in Iowa, but arguably tried to steal some of the straw poll’s thunder by announcing for president elsewhere has to be a big blow to Palin.

Yes, I do think her response to a report about Perry’s announcement in which she dismissively stated, “I didn’t think he was running” was an indication of passive-aggressive irritation, as was chewing out another reporter for implying she would support Mitt Romney in a primary battle. These points indicate she sees her chances slipping away and is not thrilled about it.

She has dragged her feet too long, methinks. Roney has done that somewhat as well. He has avoided trading barbs with others candidates in order to stay above the fray, but he knows he cannot do that any longer no matter how solidly the establishment is behind him. Palin on the other hand has looked coy and indecisive with her behavior. Erratic, even, considering how often she statts and stops executing her grandiose plans. Not only is her behavior not very presidential, it reminds me way to much of John McCain’s stunts back in 2008. None of which worked.

I like palin. I will vote for her if by some miracle she becomes the GOP nominee. I could probably be convinced to support her in the South Carolina primary assuming ahe turns herself around enough to prove her president mettle. But my faith in her is diminishing rapidly. She is thin-skinned, unreliable, and just not presidential material at the moment. Truth be told, michele Bachmann’s white house bid is the worst thing that ever happened to her? But she needed to do something about that a long time ago.
